The PTFE tapes (PTFE also better known as Teflon) lie over the welding wire and prevent the hot polymer from sticking to the welding jaws during the welding process.
The anti-stick effect of Teflon begins to degrade after around 1,500 welds.
In order to maintain the quality of the weld seams, the two bands must be exchanged. You can easily make the change yourself.
